This was our first “prosumer” espresso machine. Not knowing much about this caliber of a machine, we tried it out and then learned we needed an espresso grinder in order to get grind fine enough to have the machine make proper espresso shot….not too watery. So we didn’t use the machine until we purchase an espresso grinder about 6 months later. Then when we went use the machine, it wasn’t pumping properly. It was slow, but it wasn’t because the grind was too fine. We called the company that we purchased it from and talked to technical support. They said we need a new pump because we let it sit. We purchased the new pump and all the ancillary items they said we would need to replace the pump. We we called technical support when we were ready to install it and this tech asked to “run a test” and he said based on our result, he said it wasn’t the pump. He said we only need to decalcify it. That didn’t seem to do much. Then we took it to a restaurant coffee distributer and repair shop and their tech went through the machine and said it was fine. We brought it home and basically found that he really did nothing for the fee we paid. All that to say we believe it has some calcium build up in the line. We love coffee and we would love to keep it, but this is more than we want to deal with as this is more of a ferrari than a toyota. These machines need a lot more attention than we realized and should be owned by someone who can appreciate it for what it was made for. I think it may also need a vacuum relief valve (last picture in the listing) which costs about $20. (not included) Obviously, it will need someone who can tinker with it and put the time into that it needs. But I think that for the price and with a little effort you will have a great machine and extra parts that will keep you up and running for years to come.
